We are more than just an animal hospital. The modernized facility was built with the idea of comprehensive medical and surgical care for animal patients in mind. Boonsboro Veterinary Hospital was started in 1990 by Dr. and Mrs. Richard Garcia. The facility was completed and opened for service June 1, 1990.

Doctor Richard Garcia is a native of Denver, Colorado. He was in the Air Force/NATO/Supreme Allied Command serving for 11 years in both Belgium and in Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado. He subsequently returned to school and graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1986 from Colorado State School for Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Garcia and his wife, Sandra moved to Maryland after graduation and Dr. Garcia opened a mixed animal practice in Frederick, Maryland. Dr. Garcia and Sandra Garcia opened Boonsboro Veterinary Hospital in June of 1990.
Doctor Belinda LaBarbera. Has been with us for several years doing relief work.
Sandra Garcia grew up in both Indiana and Virginia and it was her love of the beautiful area that brought her back to Maryland. Sandra graduated from Indiana University and did post graduate work in Zoology at American University and George Mason University. She also does veterinary technician and reception work at the hospital as needed.
Vanessa is both a technician and receptionist. She is the youngest daughter of the four daughters of the Garcia’s. Vanessa is a graduate of Shepherd College. She grew up with dad in Veterinary school and her youngest experiences were riding around in the veterinary truck every day after school. She is well versed in both large and small animal care. Vanessa is the proud owner of a Chihuahua, "PocaBeans” a Mountain Cur, "Roux".
Kim brings over 15 years experience in the veterinary field. She grew up on farm in Baltimore County and has always had a love for animals, of all kinds. Her special interest is in geriatric medicine and shares her home with several special (geriatric) cats, one spoiled dog, two retired race horses and one lead pony.
Tabatha has been with us since 2003, but took some time off to be with her 3 children and husband. Tab resides with her children, husband, 1 dog "Varley", 3 cats, 2 goats and several chickens. In her free time she like to do crafts and be the photographer for her children's sports teams. Also, loves to do car derby's.
Nancy is one of our newest team members. She says, "living in Hagerstown, working in Boonsboro - the perfect combination". She has been in the Veterinary field for 7 years and now is excited to be taking care of you and your furry friends.
Julie is a native of Frederick, Maryland and has worked for Boonsboro Veterinary Hospital since 1995. Julie has completed many post graduate veterinary technical courses, including Nutrition, Behavior, Anesthesia, Surgery and Radiology. She feels that the most important thing she can do for you and your pet is to educate you in the different stages of your pets’ life from beginning to end. She has a mixed breed dog "Ditto."
Holly has been with Boonsboro Veterinary Hospital since 2009 and is a graduate of the Hagerstown Business College. Holly has traveled abroad with her parents most of her young life before rooting down in the Boonsboro area. Ask her sometime about her up close and personal experience with lions in Africa. She lives in Hagerstown with her husband, two dogs, a Pitbull Terrier-"Zuma" & a English Bulldog-"Rubble", two cats “Applesauce, and Ghost”, and a Red Tailed Boa “Sophia.”
Sadee. Her love for all things animal, has brought her to where she is today. She has a Lab "Gertie", Shiba Inu "Yuno", a mixed breed "Banjo" and 3 cats "Mini, Teacup, and Pistol." She is always ready to learn new things.
Devada is the newest addition to our hospital team. She is a native Marylander that now resides in West Virginia. A mother of 2 and a cat mom for two rescues. She is an avid animal lover, fanatic outdoorsman and so happy to be here assisting in the care of furry loved ones
